Most luxury rentals at Winter Park are large houses a drive from the lifts. The penthouse at U9200 is the opposite: a two-bedroom residence at the top of a building on the snow, where the front door opens onto the trail.
It has a name of its own, The Cloudline Residence, and it is booked nightly through Airbnb rather than leased.
The residence
Floor-to-ceiling glass runs along the living space, looking onto the slopes and across to Winter Park Resort. Interiors are walnut-panelled with marble finishes.
- Kitchen. An imported AGA oven, Monogram appliances, an indoor pizza oven, an appliance garage and a butler's pantry.
- Living. An Italian leather sectional, a 100-inch smart TV and two fireplaces.
- Primary bedroom. A king bed, a dedicated workspace and a walk-in closet. The bathroom has walnut panelling, a glass-panelled shower and a Japanese soaking tub filled from the ceiling.
- Second bedroom. A den in feel, with an Italian leather queen pull-out, an electric fireplace, a 65-inch smart TV and a steam shower/sauna.
The roof
A private staircase climbs to the roof. Part-way up, set on a glass floor in the stairwell, is a small yoga studio with mats and bands and views out over the rooftop.
At the top is the patio, with an outdoor kitchenette. It is the part of the residence guests tend to remember: somewhere to eat after skiing, or to stand out in the cold and look at the sky.
Guests also use the building's slope-side hot tub.
Ski access
U9200 is on the Corridor trail between the Winter Park and Mary Jane bases, at 9,200 feet. In the morning you ski from the building to Winter Park Base Village, where The Gondola is. After your last run, you ski back down the Mary Jane trail onto the Corridor and home.

- A couple who want the soaking tub and the roof to themselves
- Two couples skiing together, with the second bedroom on the pull-out
- A small family who want to ski from the door
Four guests is the limit, so it suits a small group rather than a gathering.
Worth knowing
The building is new, and there is still some evidence of that. If you are choosing between this and a long-settled property, it is the trade: newer finishes, a building still bedding in.
